On Thursday, March 5, the Polish-Romanian Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and
Industry hosted a reception to mark Polish–Romanian Solidarity Day,
celebrated annually on March 3. The event, held at the Józef Piłsudski
Museum in Sulejówek, brought together members of the Chamber, Polish and
Romanian enterprises, and the Chamber’s partners.
The guest of honor was H.E. Nicușor Dan, President of Romania. In his
keynote address, President Dan highlighted Romania’s growing strategic
importance in Europe, emphasizing the development of the Port of Constanța
as a key gateway within the Middle Transport Corridor. He also noted the
significance of the Black Sea natural gas reserves and the expanding role of
the Romanian defense industry.
President Dan shared that Romania is expected to join the Organisation for
Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) this summer, with Poland
providing support during the accession process. He also underscored
Romania’s robust economic growth, noting that the country’s GDP has doubled
over the past decade.
Following the formal address, President Dan engaged with attendees in a Q&A
session. Discussions focused on Polish–Romanian cooperation in
infrastructure, transport, cybersecurity, IT and new technologies, and the
defense sector.
Guests were welcomed by Gheorghe Marian Cristescu, President of the
Polish-Romanian Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Adam
Sobieszkoda, Executive Director and Board Member of the Chamber; and Robert
Andrzejczyk, Director of the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek.
The Chamber extends special thanks to the reception partners:
Alexandrion, BDO Poland, BLIK, CBRE, Confident Agency, Ewa-Bis,
Exorigo-Upos, Dom Maklerski INC S.A., MGGP, Vitamizu, and UiPath.
The reception also celebrated the historical ties between Poland and
Romania, symbolized by Marshal Józef Piłsudski, a noted friend of Romania
who visited the country four times and maintained close relations with the
Romanian royal family. These historical bonds of trust and collaboration
continue to shape Polish–Romanian relations today.
Polish–Romanian Solidarity Day, celebrated annually on March 3, was
established in 2023 by the parliaments of Poland and Romania to commemorate
the signing of the treaty between the Republic of Poland and the Kingdom of
Romania on March 3, 1921.
The mission of the Chamber is to build a strong Polish–Romanian community,
fostering mutual respect and promoting the deep historical and cultural ties
that have long connected Poland and Romania.
